New Jersey’s 70-year-old 4-H Camp program is joining with Rutgers Gardens to offer an exciting new Day Camp experience for Summer 2023. The program will combine the social/emotional learning of 4-H Camp’s friendly, communal, tech-free experience with the beautiful environment and educational opportunities of Rutgers Gardens.

4-H Camp at Rutgers Gardens is offering four sessions throughout the month of July for children ages 6 to 14.
2024 Schedule
Mini-Session One - Flora Festival: July 1st - July 3rd
Session Two - Fantastic Fauna: July 8th - July 12th
Session Three - Flora Festival: July 15th - July 19th
Session Four - Fantastic Fauna: July 22nd - July 26th
9am-4pm
Drop-off windows will run between 9:00-9:30am,
and Pick-up between 3:30-4:00pm.
Session One runs Monday through Wednesday.
Sessions Two, Three, and Four run Monday through Friday.

Inaugural Mini-Session: Session One: July 5th - July 7th
Session Two: July 10th - July 14th

9am - 4pm
Open to all youth, Ages 6-12.
Standard Session: $400 ($375 with RU/4-H discount. $350 for Rutgers Gardens Members.) Mini Session: $225 ($200 with RU/4-H/Rutgers Gardens Members Discount)

Franklin Township Pop Up Food Pantry
Attention all 4-H Clubs - we need your help!
We are partnering with the Franklin Township Youth Center to collect donations for the Franklin Township Pop Up Food Pantry. The collection box in in the 4-H Center Lobby and will be there for a while. We are looking for clubs to sign up for a month and be responsible for making sure there are donations that month. Of course, everyone can donate at any time! But we want to make sure it will never be empty.
What month will your club take?

4-H Fair Herdsmen Wanted
4-H Herdsman are 4-H members in good standing, who spend the night at the Fair to make sure all projects and equipment are safe and secure overnight. They also help keep everything clean and neat for the next day.
They also have lots of fun! If you have completed 8th grade or older - this is a chance to make new friends, play games and experience the Fair in a whole new way!

Data to the Rescue: Penguins Need Our Help
Join a team of research scientists who travel to Antarctica each year to collect data on penguins and their habitat! This 4-session virtual program for students in grades 6-8 will have you analyzing real scientific data, diving into new computer skills, showing off your creativity with a data jam project, following scientists along their path of research, and meeting new friends in the world of STEM.

Reel Into Fishing
Register for this exciting 2 day fishing program for youth in grades 5-10. Topics discussed will include fishery management, environmental science, fish biology and tagging, sailing on a real boat, live fishing, and fish tagging!

Seeing and Composing Creative Photographs
Come learn how to create effective images through strong composition. In this webinar, our photography instructor will engage you in conversation about learning to see photographically. Youth do not need to bring cameras or photographs to the session.

Middlesex County 4-H: Learn 2 Lead, Lead 2 Serve
Hosted by Middlesex County 4-H, this program focuses on teaching participants communication skills, stress management and conflict resolution, resume writing, and interviewing skills. Other topics to be discussed include the college application process, community service, and service learning. Participants will earn a certificate of achievement as well as service hours.

National 4-H: Create Your Story [Chapter 3]
We’ll be asking for you to help us continue the story through three chapters throughout the year. The best stories for each chapter will be turned into videos that will be part of an epic, interactive “create your own adventure” video this fall! And of course, each finalist will receive a $50 Schleich prize package!

July Crafts
Join Somerset County 4-H for our monthly online craft event where we’ll explore a variety of fun homemade activities. Focused on learning and engagement, our crafts event is perfect for giving youth a chance to socialize and be creative!

Understanding Food Allergies Workshop Series
Over the course of three, one-hour interactive workshops via Zoom, you will learn what food allergies are, why allergic reactions occur, and how they can keep friends with food allergies safe. Each week, you will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare (in the microwave), a quick, single-serve, allergen-free dessert.

New Jersey 4-H: Virtual Animal Science Camp
Join this virtual interactive camp and learn fun facts about different animals from those that live on the farm to those who live int he arctic! You will also be able to teach others about one of your pets or your favorite animal.

CloverTalks: Kristine and the Reusables
Join Somerset County 4-H program coordinator Kristine Manganelli as she shows you how you can use reusable items like water bottles, soaps, and utensils instead of single use plastics.

Junior International Explorers Club: Guam
Do you know where Guam is? Did you know it is not a country, but a territory of the US? Would you like to meet kids from Guam and learn about their culture? Well then, this is the club for YOU! We’ll be sharing what kids from NJ love to do while learning what Chamorro (people from Guam) kids love as well.

Zimmerli at Home: Virtual Summer Art Camp
Get ready for our first ever virtual Summer Art Camp! All children between the ages of six and 14 are invited to explore their creative sides and develop new skills in the arts alongside our wonderful teaching artists. Several favorite classes are returning, and we’ve added a few new ones as well.

Somerset County 4-H Imaginarium Club Art Show
Visit the Somerville Public Library throughout the month of July to enjoy the art of the Somerset County 4-H Imaginarium club. The theme for the show is, “Day Dreams,” and provides an opportunity to enjoy the creativity of our local youth while inspiring you to let your mind wander and find happiness in our day to day lives.

Morris County 4-H: Summer of Fun
Every summer, Morris County 4-H celebrates the knowledge and skills gained by their youth members. Traditionally this has been at the Morris County 4-H Fair in Chubb Park. This annual celebration will be held throughout the month of July with a variety of events and activities open to the general public.
