New Jersey 4-H Foods Day was a Culinary Success
Written by Jennifer Korneski, 4-H Healthy Living Program Coordinator
The New Jersey State 4-H held its first annual Foods Day event at the Somerset County 4-H Center in Bridgewater, NJ on April 9, 2022. Club members from Burlington Hunterdon, Monmouth, Somerset, and Union counties participated in this day of culinary learning and fun.
The hands-on day included workshops on conventional vs organic foods, cake decorating and table setting as well as a Skill-a-Thon and competitions in Jeopardy and a quick culinary cookoff. The secret ingredient in the culinary cookoff was a banana. Some of the delicious creations included crepes, pancakes, banana’s foster and even marshmallow stuffed bananas. Great job to all participants!
A special thank you to Harry Brochinsky, Somerset County 4-H volunteer and Master Chef club leader and the volunteers who presented and assisted with the workshops.
