The Somerset County 4-H Holiday Craft Fair & Gingerbread Contest, held December 5th and 6th, is an annual fundraiser for the Arts & Science division. Colorful décor, running train displays, and festive music filled every inch of the Ted Blum 4-H center, providing great photo opportunities, including pictures with Santa!
40 crafters displayed their artwork for sale which included crafts, ornaments, jewelry, woodwork, photography and much more. Several of our 4-H clubs also had tables to share their homemade items including the Anime club, selling jewelry and snow globes; Garden & Bee club selling honey, honey soap, and baked goods; Tailfeathers poultry club, selling homemade pinecone bird feeders, and the Makers Guild, selling metal pieces. Delicious food was also available for shoppers and vendors provided by On Target Archery Club and Master Chefs clubs.
The Gingerbread contest had 27 entries including our youngest prep-aged 4-Hers, 4-H club group entries, and individual youth and adults sharing their amazing gingerbread creations. Congratulations to Molly and Lynn for winning the Viewer’s Choice award for their gingerbread house display full of artistic detail! Some gingerbread houses were donated to the Bridgeway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsborough.
Thank you to all our 4-H volunteers who organized this wonderful event and to the vendors who shared their beautiful work to help make this holiday fair a success.
