Somerset County 4-H Clubs Honored with Community Service Awards

Written by Calvin Embleton (Marketing and Communications)

Due to their consistent volunteer efforts to enact positive change in their community, 16 different Somerset County 4-H clubs have been honored with the Patriot Award by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). “These young people were involved in some really outstanding projects,” said Holly Dunbar, the DAR liaison to the 4-H Youth Development program in New Jersey. “I was especially impressed with the 4-H clubs that had service projects related to the pandemic.”

Although the awards are typically presented during the Somerset County 4-H Fair, due to its suspension this year because of COVID-19, the award recipients will be announced during National 4-H Week. One of the nation’s oldest and largest youth organizations, 4-H has a long history of community service, volunteer work, and leadership – especially during times of crisis.
