Honoring Dale’s Legacy in 4-H

4-H was a significant part of Dale’s life, shaping his character and values. His family and friends, still deeply involved in the program, wish to honor his memory in a meaningful way. To do so, they have established an annual recognition for a 4-H member, 8th grade or older, who embodies the principles that Dale held dear.

This award celebrates 4-H members, nominated by their 4-H peers, who exemplify exceptional character, as demonstrated in their actions and choices—both in what they do and what they choose not to do. Guided by the 4-H motto, “Make the Best Better,” nominees showcase this commitment in all their 4-H activities, consistently striving for personal and collective growth.

We recognize Mike Powell and Ethan Gasman as the 2024 Dale E. Artfitch Sportsman Award recipients.
