Somerset County 4-H Gives Thanks 2025

Community service is at the heart of 4-H, and this year’s 4-H Gives Thanks event was a wonderful reminder of the difference youth can make. On November 16, Somerset County 4-H hosted its first 4-H Gives Thanks event, inspired by the successful program developed by Ocean County 4-H.
During the event, clubs created thoughtful service projects aimed at supporting and uplifting members of our community. Their creativity, teamwork, and compassion were on full display—and their efforts made a meaningful impact.
One highlight came shortly after the event, when Vincent who is a Somerset County 4-H member delivered handmade greeting cards to the residents of JFK Hartwyck Skilled Nursing Facility.
Residents were touched and pleasantly surprised by the unexpected gesture. Many paused what they were doing to accept a card, shake Vincent’s hand, share a smile, and express their thanks. Vincent proudly told them the cards were made by Somerset County 4-H, and his visit brought warmth and joy throughout the room.
He also delivered a bundle of cards to the facility’s social worker, who was thrilled and shared that she planned to distribute more cards herself.
Moments like these capture the true spirit of 4-H—youth using their head, heart, hands, and health to make their community a better place.
