Somerset County 4-H Scholarship Recipients (2020)

Somerset County 4-H is proud to spotlight these incredible leaders in our community. Ranging across four different scholarships and with over $4,000 gifted to students, we are incredibly proud to showcase those who were selected for each scholarship.


The Somerset County 4-H Association Scholarship ($1,500)

  • Kaleigh Brunner

    • A member of Mighty Cavits and Rodents, Photobombers, and Senior Council, Kaleigh will be attending the University of Rhode Island to study Journalism. Looking back, Kaleigh remembers the confidence she built competing in the Round Robin for the first time at the fair as well as the friends she was able to make in Somerset County 4-H.

  • Teresa Buzzoni

    • As a member of New Centre Dairy, Udder Club, Woolly Ones, and Sheepfold, Teresa has completed her first year at Syracuse University where she is studying International Relations and Public Relations with minors in Nutrition and Geography. Teresa is grateful for the opportunities that she has been provided through Somerset County 4-H and considers it an achievement to have been an honorable mention for the Dale E. Artfitch Sportsmanship award with her friends last year.

  • Ben Fernandez

    • A member of WorldWideWriters Ink, Movie Making Masters, The Advanced Art of Filmmaking, Trainmasters, Cloverworks, and now 4-H Imaginarium, Ben will be attending Caldwell University this fall to pursue a degree in Psychology and art. Ben looks back with fondness at the Somerset County 4-H Fair and all of the challenges and opportunities it provided him. 4-H has given Ben the ability to meet a great group of friends through the many clubs he has participated in.

  • Zachary Menendez

    • A member of the Sidewinders Herpetology club and co-chair of the 2019 North Jersey Teen Conference (NJTC), Zach will be heading to Montclair State University to study film, communication, and explore wildlife photography. With a diverse and all-encompassing Somerset County 4-H experience, Zachary is most proud of his contributions to the 4-H North Jersey Teen Conference where he was a committee co-chair. He will also miss many of the opportunities and events Somerset County 4-H organized, as well as entertaining visitors at the Herpetology tent at the Somerset County 4-H Fair.

  • Susie Norz

    • A member of New Centre Dairy PREP, New Centre Dairy, Udder Club, Branchburg Beef Dairy and Livestock, On-Target Archery, and Somerset County 4-H Exchange Association, Susie will be attending the University Technical Institute in California this fall. Having been a part of Somerset County 4-H since her birth, Susie looks back at the volunteering opportunities she was provided, specifically with Branchburg Beef Dairy and Livestock club, when they donated an entire pig to the Bridgewater Food Bank.

  • Nick Schueler

    • A member and teen leader of Roboforce Robotics Club, Nick will be attending the Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute in New York. Nick will miss all the incredible memories made at the Somerset County 4-H Fair, as well as representing Somerset County 4-H at the first Lego League World Championships.

  • Evie Sullivan

    • A member of Wattles N' Snood, Tail Feathers, Something Fishy, Grade A Beef, and On Target Archery, Evie is currently at Del Val University majoring in Animal Science while pursuing minors in honors biology, and business. Looking back at her time participating with Round Robin, she is proud of her accomplishments including being awarded the Dale E. Artfich Memorial Sportsmanship Award due to her efforts to be kind, helpful, and aiding fellow 4-H’ers..

Joseph J. and Florence E. Klimas Scholarship ($1,000)

  • Evan Brochinsky

    • An alum of PREP Chefs, Master Chefs, Clover Ensemble, Magicians Guild, Senior Council, and 4-H Exchange, Evan has been attending Westminster College in Pennsylvania. He is entering his sophomore year, studying early childhood education and special education. Evan is proud of the State and National trips that he has been able to participate in through Somerset County 4-H, as well as being able to perform and compete at the Somerset County 4-H Fair.

Rob Fellows Scholarship ($1,000)

4-H Train Masters Scholarship ($1,000)

  • Kate McHale

    • A member of Alpaca Club, Senior Council, and Woof Dog Club, Kate will be starting her college career at Delaware Valley University before transferring to Cornell University College of Agricultural and Life Sciences to study International Agriculture and Rural Development. Kate is incredibly proud of her time as a counselor at TOPS Camp as she was able to meet new friends and work with some awesome campers. She will miss going on National trips and creating memories with her fellow club members.
